Why twilight exteriors sell listings
Most listing photos are taken at midday, so the one taken at dusk stands out. Here is why twilight exteriors are worth adding to a shoot.
The light is better. The sky holds a deep blue for about twenty minutes after sunset, and the lit windows glow against it. A house looks warm and lived in instead of flat and overexposed.
The eye lands on the house. In a feed of bright daytime photos, a twilight frame is the one buyers stop on. More attention on the first photo means more clicks into the listing.
It hides what you want to hide. Dusk softens distracting details such as a busy street, a neighbor's wall or an untidy yard, and keeps the focus on the building.
It needs a little planning. We arrive an hour before sunset, check every light inside and out, and shoot as the sky fades. Turning on all the lights in the house makes the biggest difference, so ask the owners to do that before we arrive.
It is not for every listing. A bright, light-filled interior often reads better in daylight, so we usually combine both: daytime for rooms, twilight for the front of the house.
To add a twilight set to your next listing, book a shoot on the inquiry page.
